  • Five days/six nights at beautiful Sanctuary Eco Retreat.

Join us for a week’s retreat in yoga and meditation. Explore the ancient wisdom of Yoga at the Sanctuary Eco Retreat, in an eco-rainforest setting looking out over the beach, with private accommodation, that takes you right into the forest amongst the sounds and activities of the Australian bush. There is a profound, heart-enriching difference between a retreat and a holiday, and you will feel the stirrings of an inner wisdom that you have somehow known all your life.

Explore Yogic wisdom with Swami Shantananda
In traditional Yogic spirituality, the Heart is pure consciousness, the ocean of oneness, the depth of love where no one is excluded, judged or discarded, and it exists in our own selves. This week we will explore obstacles to plunging into that deep sweet ocean at the heart of Consciousness. These might include the way we handle manipulation – doing it or being manipulated. If we have found a transformed way to ‘Be’ does this leave us at odds with everyone else? The wisdom workshops offer you the opportunity to delve into Mindfulness, where every moment is awareness: of the sensory, of the world and life around you, and of the shifts within. Every moment of living may be touched by awareness. We'll look at how we can stay in that open state of peacefulness, and build resilience to the hassles and vagaries of life that occur from being shut out of that sort of state – and you realise that someone long before you understood and lived it, too.

    Asana with Sarasvati Sally Dawson
On this retreat we will melt away the distraction of compulsive busyness as we take time to explore the asana and observe how our bodies respond to the fresh clean environment and healthy food. Sarasvati Dawson, Principal of Waverley Yoga Studio and Supervisor of Anatomy and Asana at ACCY, leads a blend of dynamic style asana along with some slower work, each person working at their own level. During the retreat, you will have many choices in Yoga: Asana at the level you choose to strengthen and limber the body as well plenty of gentle restorative to rejuvenate. Meditation to quieten the mind and tame the ego. Chanting to uplift and open the heart.

Meditation amidst the life and heartbeat of the Rainforest
Together we will enjoy the peace of Meditation, and sessions where we work jointly to find that Yoga can make enormous changes to our wellbeing – spiritually, emotionally and physically. And sometimes you can just chat with Mataji about whatever Yogic topic the conversation might turn to, while having a cuppa on the balcony overlooking the magnificent rainforest and bay.

Meditation is the quickest route to a peaceful heart and during this week you get a rare opportunity: to meditate with the natural rhythm of the earth and the animals of the rainforest. In the morning as the light dawns out of the darkness, and in the evening as the great calm descend as the earth rolls away from the sun and into darkness, bringing a sublime feeling of connection with the planet, your home.
